Lately, I have been up to my ears in projects and paintings, all traditional, which is a part of the reason for my absence from DA for some time now. I recently participated in a Vegas Streets event painting before a live audience which was exhilarating and liberating at the same time. I have never done anything like that before, save for painting with a class of fellow artists, but this was entirely a different thing altogether. There must have been about 1,000 people standing behind me at the peak of the performance. I did a large colorful portrait of Martin Luther King on a 4 foot by 4 foot Masonite panel all in the space of 6 hours or less, considering the breaks I took. I'll post pics later of the painting, something more of a sketch by my own standards, but at the same time, something a lot more painterly of who I really am when I just go off and do my thing. I think I would have done even more if I hadn't been so worried about getting paint on the audience. ha! I should have let er rip and sold umbrellas for the voyeurs enjoying the process. If you can't tell...I had a blast doing it and have been asked to come out and do it again next May. So...if you are in Vegas, head to Vegas Streets to catch me doing the next one.

Aside from that detour in my art, I'm also making many new traditional portraits and landscapes that I will be posting to DA as soon as they are completed. If you are a new watcher, please take a look at my current gallery which hold a sampling of work I have done over the past several years including personal work, school work, professional work, and everything in between.

About

I began my career in feature film special effects as a traditional model and set maker for the Walt Disney company. My sharpest tools are sketching, designing, drawing, and painting, envisioning whole worlds or focusing on a single image, line, shape, texture, tone, or color. I love film, games, and books so I focus on the entertaining narrative elements of any given design and apply what I learned about classical drawing/painting, communication design, graphic art, and industrial design at Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California where I majored in Illustration and Entertainment Design. Since 2003 I have worked in the video game industry as a concept artist, illustrator, graphic designer, storyboard artist, and motion graphics animator for Treyarch, Lucasarts, Aristocrat, and EA/Pandemic Studios. I produce new ideas when needed, solve visual art problems that haunt productions, and work well with limitations, which I find fuels creativity. A desire to find beauty or discover truth is the spark that begins the game of art, and it is that game which I am passionate about and eternally grateful for being able to play.

I'm always open to different kinds of projects so if you have a project with needs I can address contact me for more information about rates and availability.

I like your idea for the Lost Woods painting, sounds very interesting and cool! I might take a while with your Predator request as well, but I will definitely finish all the art trades.

I better start withe the "easiest" ones first so I can put more dedication and detail into the complicated ones...

Hahaha...I totally understand. I'm in the same boat. Look, like I said, I want to do this, and I hope you do too, just for the fun and practice of it. So no pressure, do it as you see fit. If it takes you twenty years, twenty hours, or twenty minutes, so be it. I will not judge you or be upset in any way. I'm honored to have participated in this with you and will be enjoying it myself and also taking my time to do it like I want. It's been fun already just thinking about Zelda again. That game series has always been my high water mark for good game design. My first idea I already trashed and that is a good sign of things to come. I usually work this way anyway...I wait until something strong grabs my attention and then I anchor the piece around the things that I think are working and try to bring it all up to a higher level. You know what...I think I might create a special section of my gallery for this piece...allow all my process to be shown. Would you mind?

excuse me Nortenyo can I ask a question what software can I use so that I could draw in a computer? Thanks

:iconnortenyo:
Sketchbook pro is the easiest to learn and most closely resembles drawing with pencil. There are other programs, as well, but if it is purely a drawing experience as with pencil on paper...I can't more highly recommend another program. And it's cheap!
